The Symposium on Structural Health Monitoring and Non-Destructive Testing
The aim of the Symposium is to provide an overview on the latest breakthroughs in SHM and NDT and their interactions with various industrial fields. It comprises a series of invited lectures given by internationally acknowledged experts/researchers in the field. Do not hesitate to visit the website dedicated to this event.
It will take place on the 29th of November 2013, in the premises of INSA Lyon.
A provisional program of the event is available under this link, along with abstracts.

Experimental study prensented at the ICNDE
Numerical modelling is nowadays currently used in inspection qualification process. The simulation enables to investigate a much wider range of complex cases than that obtained using only measurements. In this context the validation of the models and codes is of great importance. You can read under this link an article written in collaboration between the CEA and EXTENDE, entitled "Experimental study for the validation of CIVA predictions in TOFD inspections", and see the PowerPoint of the presentation under this link, or on our website.

CIVA tip: Data reconstruction comparable to your acquisition image

Data reconstruction

Attention! This new feature, available in CIVA 11, potentially allows great things! When you perform a simulation with CIVA, the model (geometry and material of the test piece, probe, flaw, etc.) is as close as possible to the actual configuration. For example, if you describe a component with an anisotropic cladding, you define the test piece with the two layers and you take care to define the anisotropic properties of the cladding. Once the calculation is done, ... Read more.
