| UT pipe inspection modelling: two recent papers from Ed Ginzel | ||
|
Explore two recent papers involving modelling by Ed Ginzel in the latest edition of the e-Journal of Non-Destructive Testing: In the first one, "CIVA Modelling Module for Zonal Discrimination Method - Part 2 - System Qualification Aspects", you will read how the AUT Pipeline module of CIVA can accurately simulate detection reliability (Probability of Detection) and sizing accuracy for weld inspections in AUT qualification or validation. Beyond demonstrating the realism of simulation results compared to field references, Ed Ginzel also underlines the benefits of modelling: by efficiently generating a large number of samples at a low cost, CIVA makes it possible to provide a more quantitative and valuable validation compared to conventional methods. In a second paper, "CIVA as an Aid to Understanding Ultrasonic Anisotropy in Steel", Ed Ginzel illustrates, with simulation tests, the impact of anisotropy in pipeline made of TMCP steel (Thermo-Mechanical Control Process). CIVA UT helps to assess when the degree of anisotropy will become problematic to locate flaw indications in welds inspected with angled shear waves. |

EXTENDE received the 2024 Innovation in NDT Award for TraiNDE RT at the NDTMA conference! Per Marybeth Miceli, Executive Director: "Using Virtual Reality and Simulated Training for Industrial Radiography training is not only extremely innovative but also infinitely increases the safety of initial practical training by reducing the ALARA to 0. We thank you for your dedication to making the NDE/NDT industry better." This year's attendance at the annual NDTMA conference was at an all-time high, with more than 450 attendees! NDTMA presented EXTENDE with the Innovation in NDT award for its product TraiNDE RT at the closing ceremony. |
