CIVA Education v2 has been released
 

CIVA Education v2

  CIVA Education is a streamlined version of the NDT simulation software CIVA. It is the ultimate tool to help you teach "the physics behind NDT" to students and trainees.

With an updated and more user-friendly interface, this new version also offers a brand new Guided Waves Testing module (GWT) to compute dispersion curves, and some new features in the UT (among which the simulation of TFM applications), ET and RT modules.

CIVA 2025

  CIVA 2025 was released two months ago, and we hope you have installed this new version and started enjoying its many improvements.

This version includes major new features such as a full FEM module in CIVA UT, insertion of virtual flaws in real images in CIVA RT, and many new applications available in the SG Tube Inspection simulation module in CIVA ET. More information in our blog article and Release Note.

Could you describe the role of DQI within EDF, particularly in the field of NDT/NDE?

The DQI ("Direction Qualité Industrielle", i.e. Industrial Quality Department) is the EDF entity that guarantees industrial quality by securing manufacturing, materials, and processes used for existing nuclear power plants and new construction projects.
In the field of NDT/NDE, we design, qualify, and monitor the Non-Destructive Evaluation procedures, drive their implementation by our contracted partners, and manage the contradictory expertise in factories or on site.

  Computation time is a critical aspect of simulations based on Finite Element Models, particularly in the "FE Beam Computation" and "FE Inspection Simulation" modules.

In order to avoid any unnecessary loss of computation time, it is important to ensure that the settings are appropriate before running calculations. Mesh verification is part of this verification process.
