TraiNDE UT - "Blind Blocks" package is now available

Blind Block

EXTENDE is happy to release a new package of 4 exercises available within TraiNDE UT: The "blind blocks".
These blocks correspond to specific educational blocks, which consist of thin planar specimens including holes of various shapes inside. The trainees have to figure them out by inspecting the blocks from their 4 sides, with only the set of conventional probes! Using these blocks with TraiNDE UT enhances their educational interest even more, thanks to the ability to switch very quickly from one probe to another, or with the possibility to display then hide the cross section view. This increased interactivity will make understanding the signals a lot easier.
More information on these blocks is available in the related Application Case.
TraiNDE UT - Application Cases

Why should you buy TraiNDE UT?
TraiNDE UT will not replace practical training on real blocks. But it can help to greatly improve training efficiency and to reduce the time needed for such practical tests, because you can launch in a second a smart tool supplied with relevant examples that will be more efficient than long explanations. In some situations, a virtual approach can provide insight not achievable with reality!
With TraiNDE UT: ... And we can give you other examples. Contact us for more information about TraiNDE UT!

Training on reliability in NDE

After these difficult times and the general lockdown, we are pleased to inform you that our intercompany training sessions have resumed!
Considering the current circumstances, we have done our best to welcome back our trainees in a safe environment, integrating the necessary sanitary constraints and recommendations.
Our next intercompany training sessions are scheduled on the following dates:

CIVA – Introduction and Applications:
  • From 21st to 25th September 2020 in Massy, France (UT module)
  • From 23rd to 27th November 2020 in Massy, France (UT, RT and CT modules)
  • From 07th to 11th December 2020 in Virginia, U.S.A. (UT and A2D modules)
Reliability in NDE:
  • From 20th to 22nd October 2020 in Massy, France
Feel free to contact us if you wish to register to one of these sessions.
Interview of Cyril Kouzoubachian

Cyril Kouzoubachian

Cyril Kouzoubachian, from PRECEND, kindly answered a few questions regarding his opinion on the future of NDT.

Could you describe the main activities of PRECEND?
PRECEND is a cluster with about sixty skills centers (academic centers, technical centers, service providers...), mainly in the two fields of Non Destructive Testing (NDT) and Structural Health Monitoring (SHM), but also in robotics or in materials engineering.
We mainly carry out two actions:
  • Projects management for industrials: feasibility, technical assistance, expertise... Which are based on the skills of our members.
  • Animation of the network: monthly technology watch bulletin, edition of practical guides, and organization of technical days. [...] Read more
CIVA Tip: Optimization of calculation times in CIVA CT
Import of Monte-Carlo calculation results with a variable step

A functionality has been developed in CIVA CT to reduce the computation time of tomographic configurations including Monte-Carlo calculations (allowing to take into account scattered radiation). This option allows to import Monte-Carlo calculation results with a variable positioning step. It is thus possible to refine the calculation of the scattered radiation on irregular regions or strong variations in thickness and, conversely, to widen the step on flat or quasi-planar areas where the thickness is constant.
