Corner echoes with Longitudinal (P) mode

This page contains the validation results obtained during the pulse-echo inspection, in longitudinal mode (P mode), of rectangular backwall breaking notches. Results for transversal mode (SV mode) inspections are available on ANOTHER PAGE.

The following experiments are carried out on different planar specimens with different probes. The aim is to study, for both immersion and contact configuration, the influence of some parameters on CIVA predictions (ex: influence of the notch height or influence of the refraction angle). The last section explains some phenomena and recalls CIVA limitations, especially for small defects and critical angles.
