This page contains the validation results obtained during “pulse-echo” inspection, in transversal mode (SV mode), of rectangular backwall breaking notches. Results for longitudinal mode (P mode) inspections are available on another page
The following experiments are performed on different planar specimens. The goal is to study, for both immersion and contact probes, the influence of some parameters (height, length, and refraction angle) on CIVA predictions. The last section explains some phenomena and remember CIVA limitations, especially for small defects and critical angles.
Synthesis of validations cases
Simultaneous influence of the 2 dimensions of the notch
Influence of the refraction angle
Simultaneous Influence of the notch height and the rEfraction angle
Simultaneous Influence of the notch length and the refraction angle
